The Dream of Reason is a celebration of discursive consciousness, using images from science and alchemy. The Sun as a Cool Solid demonstrates the differentiation of the supraordinate self from its environment, even as the self remains a part of the whole of existence. The Philosopher's Conquest completes the cycle by showing the viewpoint of the enlightened mind, wherein the "ten thousand things" are seen as unity.
