The trick is to learn to move and focus your eyes seperately. Normally, when we look at an object, we focus the lenses of our eyes and move our eyeballs together in one action. Free viewing requires that you focus in on a nearby object (the screen) while letting your eyeballs drift into position as if you were looking at something in the far distance. That way, the left eye is centered on the left image, and the right eye is likewise centered on the right image. This is the "wall-eyed" technique. Some people (myself included) find it easier to use the "cross-eyed" technique. Just like it sounds, you cross your eyes slightly. To do this effectively, the images should be reversed on the page. I have provided both versions here. |
